Activists on social media have circulated surveillance camera footage said to document a theft inside a women's clothing store in the Al-Midan neighborhood of the capital, Damascus.
The footage shows a number of people inside the store, amid circulating accusations that some of them were involved in stealing merchandise.
The scenes have renewed concerns about the security of markets and shops, amid calls to step up security patrols and protect store owners and shoppers.
No confirmed information is yet available on the value of the stolen goods, the identity of those involved, or any measures taken by the security authorities.
