The Saudi Civil Defense in Jeddah Governorate responded to the accidental collapse of a temporary water tank belonging to a private company, which released large quantities of water after the tank struck the ground.
Footage circulating from the scene showed water pooling in a street and in parking areas, along with damage to a number of vehicles and debris and tree parts scattered across the surrounding area.
According to published information, the water reached vehicle parking areas in the Al-Shati district of Jeddah, while the relevant authorities began dealing with the aftermath of the incident and assessing the damage.
There was no confirmed information about human injuries, and the technical causes that led to the tank's collapse have not yet become clear.
The incident raises questions about the safety procedures associated with installing temporary water tanks belonging to private companies, and the extent of compliance with safety requirements to protect residents and nearby property.
