Activists on social media circulated a surveillance camera video said to document a killing in the city of Sahnaya in the Damascus countryside, after an unidentified person opened fire on a citizen inside his car before fleeing the scene.
According to the circulating account, the attacker got out of a car, walked toward the victim and shot him in broad daylight, in an incident that raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the area.
The incident once again highlights the state of security breakdown that residents in a number of Syrian areas complain about, as well as concerns over the absence of an effective presence of General Security and its ability to prevent crimes and protect civilians.
