Daraa – Syria | Thursday, October 22, 2026
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that a civilian with a disability was killed by Israeli forces' gunfire during a military incursion into the village of Jamla in the Yarmouk Basin area of western rural Daraa.
According to the Syrian report, the victim's body was taken to Daraa National Hospital. His identity was not disclosed, and no further details were given about the immediate circumstances of the shooting.
Syrian media reports had said that Israeli forces entered the village and carried out searches and raids on civilians' homes, while snipers were deployed on the rooftops of residential buildings and gunfire was heard in the area.
The announcement of the civilian's death raises new concerns about the safety of residents in areas experiencing military incursions, particularly people with disabilities and the most vulnerable groups.
No independent confirmation from a medical or human rights body regarding the circumstances of the civilian's death has been available so far, nor has there been a documented Israeli response concerning this specific incident.
There remains a need for an independent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident and determine responsibility, while ensuring the protection of the civilian population.
