#SaudiArabia | Flydubai captain and co-pilot depart Saudi Arabia for Abu Dhabi accompanied by Emirati security team

The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that the captain of Flydubai flight FZ1073 and his co-pilot left the Kingdom for Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning, October 1, 2026, accompanied by the Emirati security team, after their health condition improved and they received medical clearance to depart.

The Ministry confirmed that preliminary investigations were conducted by Saudi authorities with the participation of the Emirati security team into the circumstances of the incident that preceded the plane's landing in Saudi Arabia.

According to published information about the investigation, the co-pilot is being investigated in the UAE, while investigations related to the incident continue with the relevant authorities.

The co-pilot's departure to Abu Dhabi after undergoing preliminary procedures in Saudi Arabia raises questions about the legal and procedural basis for transferring the handling of the case to the UAE, and the division of jurisdiction between the countries involved in the incident.
